Floods have changed everything for thousands of children
Severe floods have swept through Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading in Nepal, forcing families from their homes and disrupting everyday life.
Around 50,000 people, including 17,000 children, have been affected. Homes have been flooded, schools and health facilities damaged, and safe water has become harder to find. Some communities remain difficult to reach.
For children who have lost the safety and comfort of home, every day matters.
UNICEF is delivering help where children need it most
UNICEF is working with the Government of Nepal and humanitarian partners to reach affected children and families.
- Safe water and hygiene: Providing families with hygiene kits, water-treatment supplies, buckets, and practical advice to prevent disease.
- Health and nutrition: Preparing medical tents, mosquito nets, newborn kits, therapeutic food, and essential nutrition supplements.
- Child protection: Offering psychological support and helping children who have become separated from their families return safely to their loved ones.
- Education: Sending learning materials and helping establish temporary learning spaces where children can study, play, and begin to recover.
- Family support: Preparing assistance and sharing trusted information so families can meet urgent needs with dignity.
